Barcelona

Fly from London Heathrow to Barcelona return, on arrival in the Catalan capital we will meet our accessible transport for the transfer to the Hotel Regina, where we will be based for the duration of the holiday.

Barcelona, the pride of Catalonia, has always played an important role in the artistic and political life of Spain; it is a cosmopolitan city rich in history and culture , it boasts vibrant street life, superb cuisine and a world famous football team.

The Hotel Regina could be defined as a modern classic providing excellent service and comfort, it is a 4* hotel located next to Plaza Cataluña, right in the heart of Eixample, where the city's two most cosmopolitan avenues begin the Paseo de Gracia and Las Ramblas. A few steps away from the best boutiques, shopping areas and restaurants, a short walk from the Gothic Quarter, the Cathedral, and the most important art nouveau buildings, among them are those of world-renowned Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi.

Join us on a city tour with our local guide for a panoramic view of this city which is full of charm and history. During our tour we see Montijuic, the mountain that overlooks the city, here we can find the Olympic Stadium which was used during the 1992 Olympic Games; it offers great panoramic views of the city and the port. Admire Antoni Gaudi’s architectural masterpieces the Casa Mila and the Sagrada Familia, the still unfinished cathedral. No other architect in history has ever had such an influence on a city as Gaudi has had on Barcelona. See La Rambla, the busy avenue famous for its flower and animal stalls.

Full day tour of Dali’s Costa Brava including Figueres, the village where Salvador Dali, Spain’s most famous surrealist artist was born, Dali drew inspiration from the area and his house is now a museum which we will visit. Continue along the Costa Brava to Rosa a seaside village with lovely beaches, time to take a stroll or enjoy a delicious lunch before continuing to Cadaques, the village is known for its crystal blue waters, whitewashed houses and sandy beaches.

For our final excursion we visit Montserrat, which means “sawed mountain”, admire the Sanctuary of the Virgin Mary and the Benedictine Monastery for the last thousand years pilgrims have come here from the entire world to worship the Black Madonna.

There will be time to sample some of the Catalan specialities in the local restaurants or shop for souvenirs.
