Visit to the Eden Project and
The Lost Gardens of Heligan,
enjoy a gourmet lunch at Rick
Stein's The Seafood restaurant in
Padstow.
The holiday departs London from the Heston Services (Westbound) on the M4 and pickups can be arranged along the M4 and M5 motorways.
For the duration of the holiday we will be staying at the recently refurbished Mercure Southgate Hotel in Exeter. The hotel is centrally located, just a short stroll from the beautiful cathedral and the many shops, restaurants and cafes that the city offers.
Day 1 | Arrive at the hotel late afternoon the Tour Manager will assist with the check in procedures.
Day 2 | We have arranged for our own guided tour of Exeter Cathedral, the present building was complete circa 1400, it has several notable features including, an astronomical clock and the longest uninterrupted vaulted ceiling in England. Rest of the day is free.
Day 3 | Full day escorted tour to the Eden Project, called the "Eighth Wonder of the World". We have arranged our own private tour of one of the bio domes.
Day 4 | Visit Torquay, take a stroll along the palm-lined promenade. Relax, soak up the atmosphere, enjoy the day in a classical English seaside resort.
Day 5 | For all gourmets today will be a day to remember, depart the hotel for Padstow a working fishing port situated on the west side of the Camel estuary in North Cornwall. It is an area of outstanding beauty with wonderful bays and golden beaches. We have organized a 3 course lunch at Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant. After this gastronomic experience explore the lovely town with its old crooked streets that slope down to the harbour.
Day 6 | Tour of one of England's most famous National Parks, Dartmoor. Made famous by well known writers such as Agatha Christie and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, learn its history from our guide. Later we visit Buckfast Abbey the home of the Benedictine monks in Devon.
Day 7 | Today visit The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Created in the 19th century with 100 acres of ornamental woodlands and 57 acres of planted gardens they were one of the finest gardens in England of their period. The gardens were neglected after the First World War and only restored to their formal glory in the 1990's.
Day 8 | After breakfast we make our way back to London dropping off on the M5 and M4 motorways.
