Inspiring Welsh Beauty

Join us on this escorted holiday, discover the best of Wales, enjoy the fabulous scenery staying in Llandudno with its lovely seafront and flat promenade.

The holiday departs London from Heston Services (Westbound) on the M4 and pickups can be arranged at the motorway service areas on the M4, M40 and M6.

For the duration of our holiday we will be staying at the Imperial Classic Hotel, situated on the promenade of the beautiful resort of Llandudno. This elegant Victorian style hotel offers lovely views of the bay. The bedrooms have all the facilities you would expect from a first class hotel.

Llandudno with its Victorian and Edwardian elegance is the largest resort in Wales, uniquely cradled between the arm of Great Orme and Little Orme and two fantastic beaches. It offers a number of places of interst including the Llandudno Cable Car, with spectacular views over the town and the Conwy estuary, the Llandudno Museum and the Alice in Wonderland Centre in Trinity Square. The Victoria Shopping centre has a great selection of famous high street shops and boutiques, antiques local crafts and a large choice of cafes and restaurant.

Each major period of history has left its mark on Wales, the Romans mined for gold, the Normans built castles and the Tudor dynasty was founded in Wales.

Our first full day guided tour to discover historic Wales will take us to Betws-y-Coed which is North Wales most popular inland resort in the Snowdonia National Park. The river Conwy meets its three tributaries here, flowing from the west. As in other towns, you will hear the locals speak Welsh. Even though the English outlawed the Welsh language in the past, it lived on through singing, reciting and storytelling – the Welsh way of life. The beauty of the area is added to by the Swallow Falls, river pools and ancient bridges, amidst the dense woodlands and mountainous country, an inspiration for artists.

We then continue to Conwy – the walled town. Conwy castle was built by Edward I between 1283 and 1289, his “iron ring” of castles to contain the Welsh, perhaps one of his most magnificent fortresses. The imposing dark stoned medieval fortress has gigantic curtain walls and eight huge towers reflecting the strength of its character.

The next full day guided tour takes us to Caernarfon at the mouth of the Seiont river, possibly the most famous of the Welsh castles built by Edward I not only as a military stronghold but also as a seat of government and royal palace. In 1969 the castle gained worldwide fame as the setting for the Investure of Prince Charles as Prince of Wales.
