Day 1
Morning departure from London to Penrith in the Lake District, we will be based here for the next 2 nights.
Day 2
Guided tour of the Lake District; enjoy a boat trip on Lake Windermere. The breathtaking natural beauty of the area has been a major inspiration for poets and writers.
Day 3
Travel to Glasgow, en route stop at Gretna Green, we will be based in Glasgow for the next 3 nights.
Day 4
Glasgow guided city, Glasgow offers great architecture, super shopping facilities, and a selection of museums.
Day 5
Free day to explore the city further.
Day 6
Travel to Oban, for lunch we will stop along the shores of Loch Lomond. Oban is known as the Gateway to the Isles, ferries leave for Mull, Coll, and Tiree, we will be based here for 2 nights.
Day 7
Board the ferry for the crossing to Mull then as foot passengers for the short crossing to Iona. St Columba founded a monastery here in 563 after been exiled from his native Ireland.
Day 8
Drive to Inverness, stopping at the Glencoe Visitors Centre where in 1692 members of the MacDonald clan were killed by the guests that had accepted their hospitality. Driving along Loch Ness watch out for Nessie. We will be based in Inverness for 3 nights.
Day 9
Today cruise on Loch Ness, the second largest Scottish loch.
Day 10
Guided tour of Inverness, later visit Culloden and its Visitors Centre, site of the famous battle where between 1500 and 2000 Jacobites were killed in 1746 by an army loyal to the British government.
Day 11
Drive to Edinburgh, stopping at the Glenturet distillery, join a tour and sample a wee dram. We will be in Edinburgh for the next 2 nights.
Day 12
Guided tour of the city, see Edinburgh Castle which dominates the city centre, Princes Street and the Royal Mile. This evening join us for our Scottish Evening, including dinner and entertainment.
Day 13
After breakfast we bid farewell to Scotland. |
