Switzerland has one of the world’s best rail networks and for the first time we are offering this super holiday, travelling by train to Luzern and to Bern.  Travel in comfort whilst admiring beautiful Alpine scenery, green pastures and emerald lakes.   This holiday is a must for all train lovers.  Book early to avoid disappointment.

Day 1
Scheduled flight from London Heathrow to Zurich airport.   On arrival at the airport we will transfer to the airport train station for the train journey to the Hotel Artos, in Interlaken, we will be based here for the duration of our stay. 

Day 2
The town of Interlaken takes its name from its geographical position between the lakes Brienz and Thun.  Situated in the Bernese Oberland, it is presided over by 3 impressive mountains, the Eiger, the Mönch and the Jungfrau.  The Artos Hotel is conveniently located near the town centre; guests can use the hotel’s   facilities the Wellness and Thermal Spa.  Today we have included a cruise on Lake Brienz, whose waters are said to be of a very distinctive colour.

Day 3
This morning we board our train, the destination is Bern, the capital of Switzerland.  Bern  is a medieval city built on and around the river Aare, Einstein worked here and is where they make the chocolate Toblerone.  Over the centuries the townscape has not been altered and in 1983 the city was made a World Heritage Site, stroll under the covered promenades.

Day 4
Cruise on Lake Thun, admire the breathtaking mountain scenery.  The town of Thun with its castle and medieval centre offers lovely views of the Bernese Alps.

Day 5
Today we travel by train from Interlaken to Luzern a very charming town located in central Switzerland situated on the lake by the same name, the town centre is a pedestrian area with houses, shops and hotels painted in medieval style. There will be time to explore this lovely town before catching the train back to Interlaken.

Train transfer to Zurich airport for the flight back to London Heathrow.
